There are several different pricing models available to consider when selecting a mail courier service. When Everyday Mail first entered the marketplace many years ago we adopted a daily charge rate for our mail collection and delivery services as it seemed to be the accepted way of doing business in this industry.

However over time and consultation with our customers we discovered that many of them would prefer a fixed monthly rate as our services did not change month in and month out. The reason that our customers preferred to be charged this way was that it made it much simpler for budgeting and accounting as the invoice value did not change month in and month out.

At the end of the day we provide an essential yet simple service to our customer so we went along with this pricing model to help out our customers and simply put – make Everyday Mail a simple business to deal with.

A common question is what happens with regards to public holidays and the festive season?

To make sure things are not only fair but in our customers favour we calculate all of our flat rate pricing based on 20 working days in the month so that way, over the course of the year this works out in the customers favour with some months having up to 22 business days in this month.

In terms of the festive season, we deal with each customer on a case by case base basis as our customers have vastly varying trading hours during this time and always pro rata our charges to make sure that you are not being taken advantage of.

Couple this with our guarantee that our pricing is completely fixed regardless of fuel prices for at least 12 months, why would you want to take up a service that does not charge this way?

If you are using a service already and not being charged a fixed monthly rate then click here to contact us and arrange a no obligation discussion or call us on 1300 624 562 to make your mail courier service simple.

We have discovered that many businesses are reliant on one or at best two staff members to collect their mail from their PO Box and lodge their outgoing mail at the Post Office each day.

Now whilst there are a lot of other associated issues with this arrangement which we have discussed elsewhere, one thing that businesses fail to account for is sick days and holidays for these critical staff members.

Too often mail goes uncollected as there is generally only one key to access the company PO Box and if the staff member is collecting the mail on their way to work each morning they often take the key home with them and therefore when they are sick the mail goes uncollected for sometimes days at a time.

There are flow on effects to be considered here such as the impact on your businesses cash flow if cheques are aggregating in your PO Box unbanked or if staff members are waiting for an urgent delivery of something like a contract.

Additionally, if your business has not considered redundancies and other staff members have become accustomed to the mail “magically” getting lodged at the post office each afternoon there have been many situations that we have uncovered whereby mail goes for days without being lodged. Think about it, when you put your letter in your companies designated areas for mail in your mind the letter is as good as in the post, well as you have now discovered this is not always the case.

Sure, this type of situation does not occur every day but if incoming and outgoing mail can be an important thing for your business then why take the risk?

At the end of the day, mail is a funny thing in a business – when everything is running smoothly no one even thinks about it, but when something goes wrong it is generally world war 3!

Everyday Mail is always available to help you with any mail related issues and should you choose to engage our services you can rest assured that you mail will run like clockwork day in and day out. So if you would like to discuss your specific circumstances then click here to contact us or feel free to call us on 1300 624 562.

As with any industry, the mail courier business generally has some hidden costs that customers need to investigate before forming a relationship with a provider. A simple daily rate to pick up and collect your mail might seem like a great idea but the hidden costs can quickly add up and be very difficult to audit and budget for.

A few examples of hidden costs charged by some providers include:

1) Charges For Collecting Registered Post Items – Essentially the logic here is that Registered Items are not put into the PO Box but rather the provider has to go to the counter to sign for the items before delivering them – thus attracting an additional charge. The reality is that the Post Offices make these items ready for the mail couriers each day along with the rest of the mail and this charge is nothing more than a grab for cash. Additionally, you cannot control the amount of registered post that your business receives and therefore you cannot control your costs and it is very difficult to reconcile this charge when you receive your invoice.

2) Charges for Collecting Parcels – Exactly the same as Registered Post Items, larger items that cannot fit into your PO Box are collected from behind the counter at the post office. Again, you can’t control the volume of these items and if you are being charged additional fees for this you cannot control the costs. These additional extras have been charged out as much as a few dollars per item.

3) Charges for excess weight – If your business is regularly sending out large volumes of mail or heavy items than you may be subject to weight charges from your provider.

4) Charges for waiting time – If you are rushing around to prepare urgent mail and ask your mail courier to wait for a few moment whilst you get that last urgent letter ready, you may be charged for this time so beware!

To help give a fair deal to customers, Everyday Mail has developed a flat monthly rate pricing model with no additional charges for the items listed above. This has proven to be very popular as it is very simple to budget for and there is no further auditing required – a fair price for a great service.
